The California Department of Health Care Services, in partnership with The Center at Sierra Health Foundation, announces two separate funding opportunities: Native Medications for Addiction Treatment Network for Healing and Recovery, and the Tribal and Urban Indian Community-Defined Best Practices. Both opportunities offer 24-month contracts for up to $300,000.
Native Medications for Addiction Treatment Network for Healing and Recovery
$1.5 million is available to tribal and urban Indian organizations that can offer clinical and non-clinical MOUD services onsite. The purpose of this funding is to develop, operationalize, enhance and sustain medication for opioid use disorder (MOUD) services that emphasize the healing role of culture in engagement, treatment and recovery. Applications are due March 18, 2025, at 1 p.m. PST.

Tribal and Urban Indian Community-Defined Best Practices
$5.25 million is available for tribal and urban Indian organizations to examine local cultural beliefs and traditional healing practices that could support substance use treatment and recovery services. Additionally, the purpose of this funding is to support organizations with integrating strength-based cultural practices that support cultural identity into substance use treatment and recovery services and implementing tribal and urban Indian community-defined best practices into substance use disorder services that specifically serve Native communities throughout California. Applications are due March 20, 2025, at 1 p.m. PST.
