The organization plans to begin opioid coalition engagement by engaging in the California Indian Opioid Safety Coalition.

To assess current recovery ecosystem in Kern County, specifically as it relates to medication-assisted treatment for American Indians and Alaska Natives; identify potential partnerships with MAT Programs, clinics, hospitals and local x-waivered physicians who prescribe buprenorphine that would be interested in developing MOUs with BAIHP; create a MAT Workflow that illustrates access points to MAT treatments in conjunction with culturally component services; provide on-site training and coaching calls to BAIHP staff to ensure adequate support and sustainability of TMAT; assist with the development of culturally relevant education and promotional items that promote pathways to healing and addiction services; create naloxone distribution plan that includes culturally specific design and that ensures the saturation of naloxone throughout the community; create and design TMAT Campaign/Native Harm Reduction services for BAIHP, and assist with the mid and final report for the TMAT.

To implement three strategies to reduce or prevent substance use disorder within the Native community: 1) attend and participate in the California Indian Opioid Safety Coalition, scheduled quarterly; 2) attend and participate in the California Indian Harm Reduction Workgroup meetings as scheduled; and 3) expand substance use disorder programming, targeting Native women in and around San Joaquin County.
